Summer Training

Opelika Soccer Club is proud to offer a summer training program  for all players. Technical sessions, run by our club coaching staff, will cover a variety of topics focused on ball and skill mastery.  Street Soccer, the newest addition to our summer training regimen, lets the players take charge. Our coaching staff will be present to supervise, but all organization—rules, teams, fields, etc.—is the players’ responsibility. Bring yourself, your ball, your friends and come ready to play! For an added incentive, any club player attending 10 or more sessions during the summer will earn a prize! The player with the top attendance at the end of the summer will win a “Night on the Town” prize package.  PLAYERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SIGNING IN AT EVERY SESSION TO RECEIVE CREDIT. Sign-in sheets will be located at the concession stand.

PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS

OSC’s Program and its players make a full season commitment, which lasts until their school season begins in the spring, or they register with OSC for a spring season when available. Regular attendance will be rewarded!A high standard of behavior is expected of all players representing Opelika Soccer Club on and off the pitch. We pride ourselves on the high standards set by current and former players, and will continue to place emphasis on the development of the person, the athlete, and finally the soccer player.

WHAT IS THE ACADEMY?

As mentioned above, Opelika Soccer Academy is for players born in the 2009-2011 age groups. Academy teams train 2 times weekly throughout the season, with additional training opportunities available to committed players. Opelika Soccer Academy participates in the Alabama Soccer Association Youth Academy. More information for ASA’s program can be found here.

An Academy program focuses on the complete development of each player. Our Academy is designed to provide an educational environment for boys and girls to learn through playing. Our main emphasis is of enjoying the process of technical development which will lead to gradual tactical understanding.

Flexibility is one of the crucial components of an Academy program. Children develop at different rates–development is not linear. Because of this, we combine age groups into a player pool to allow us further flexibility to account for the wide range of ability levels both within our club and across associations and clubs. With that flexibility, we can tailor each Academy experience to best suit the individual player and their development as a person, athlete, and soccer player.
